Kentuckians AWI Peter Pig/Stone Mountain 15mm

Happy end of Summer to everyone. Near Labor Day in the states and I've been diligently working on several new and exciting projects. Most recent project finished was 15mm American War of Independence Kentucky militia. These miniatures are for an AWI skirmish game using the snappy ruleset, This Very Ground (Iron Ivan Games) which I first teased in the post British Rangers & Shawnee, Oh My! As previously mentioned these are great rules to play with a fun shooting mechanic that is effected by black powder smoke filling the battlefield among other factors. Highly recommended.

Stone Mountain militia

These figures are a mix of Peter Pig and some vintage Stone Mountain miniatures which were still on the original blister pack and purchased from eBay. For most of the rank & file militia I used Stone Mountain but for the Kentucky mountain men, elite woodsmen & marksmen, Peter Pig's militia in buckskin. The details on Peter Pig's is the usual quality-outstanding, but the Stone mountain figures look nice all painted up as well considering their age.

For an upcoming battle report that will reach this space soon which I've now dubbed the Skirmish at Soggy Bend, the Kentucky army will consist of one officer, irascible Major Hugh McGloin, 10 militia including a lieutenant, and 8 mountain men. Even though they will be outnumbered by the opposing Anglo-Native allied army 28-18, the mountain men shoot at longer range with a slightly better chance to hit.

Got in a few quick games during the Christmas break testing out my Navy Seals Vietnam module based on Ivan Sorenson's No End in Sight V2 . Gamed a few missions and of those I recorded this game for a quick Battle Report. Codename Operation Jolly Woodsmen, Summer 1968. SEAL OFFICER In this op the SEALS are attempting to take out a pesky sniper the "Woodsmen" who has been harassing allied troops for weeks. Just recently the Woodsmen shot a ARVN colonel mortally wounding him. This is a high value target. The Viet Cong can use three tunnels to traverse the map quickly, setting up ambushes or escaping heavy firepower. If firing more than once from the same position, they reveal their location. If a SEAL figure is equipped with a radio, they can call in artillery fire from nearby naval ships. Ottoman Turks 1462 AD: 15mm DBA

Always wanted to do a DBA ( De Bellis Antiquitatis ) style army to represent both sides of the Ottoman-Wallachian conflict circa 1462-Pitting Sultan Mehmed II, conqueror of Constantinople against Prince Vlad Dracula, voivode of Wallachia. Drew inspiration from the classic Angus Mcbride artworks for these miniatures. Since quite a number of 15mm wargaming blogs have focused on Vlad and his band of merry impaling lads, I reckoned I'd post a few shots of my Ottoman Turks while I work on finishing the last couple elements of Dracula's Wallachians. Fighting in the Green Hell: Chaco War 1932-1935

Here is a new project that I have been working on since 2022, Green Hell: Chaco War 1932-1935 , a 15mm scale campaign module based on a little known inter-war conflict between Bolivia and Paraguay. A bloody affair which saw the smaller Paraguayan army defeat the larger and better equipped Bolivians at nearly every turn, the "Green Hell" refers to the arid and treacherous conditions of the the Chaco Boreal, the borderlands between the two warring nations which were thought to contain a vast amount of oil. For three years the two countries waged a brutal war marked by WW1 style frontal assaults, artillery bombardments, and sieges along with warplanes and even a few British tanks. The Chaco Boreal itself was a third combatant in the conflict-drought conditions along with poisonous insects and snakes made it extremely difficult terrain to fight in.
